IGC 657: Engaging Students in the Digital Age K-12

Format: This course is a one-week summer intensive. An entire graduate class will be completed in one week, so please leave ample time to complete assignments each day. This is an online course that takes place remotely and all coursework is completed asynchronously. There are no zoom sessions.
Course Description: This course is designed to enhance your teacher toolbox with usable ideas to engage students in your instruction by incorporating technology. We will focus on free applications such as Google Apps like Google Forms, Google Docs, and Google Slides with Pear Deck; Assessment with applications such as Kahoot! and Quizizz, Plickers, and Flipgrid; Differentiated instruction with applications such as Freckle (Front Row), ReadWorks, Kiddle, Google Slide Word Sorts, and Epic!. Students will walk away with usable lessons and products for classroom use. If you're looking to learn new ways to engage your students with technology in your literacy block both in teacher-led instruction as well as independent practice, this is the course for you! This course is aligned with the Massachusetts State Frameworks and the Common Core.
