IGC 642: Developing Safe & Responsible Digital Citizens in Your K-12 Classroom

Instructor: Casey Rekowski

Format: This course is a one-week summer intensive. An entire graduate class will be completed in one week, so please leave ample time to complete assignments each day. This course takes place remotely and all coursework is completed asynchronously. There are no zoom sessions.

Course Description: This course is designed to help educators and their students safely and responsibly navigate the internet. With many opportunities to sign up for secure, locked educational websites like Google Classroom and even more opportunities to contribute to public forums, it is important that teachers help their students become responsible digital citizens that are aware of social conventions and safe interactions on the World Wide Web. The course will give educators the opportunities to explore ways they can embed responsible digital citizenship into their curriculum and ensure that their class activities allow students to responsibly interact with one another and other internet users. This course is aligned with the MA State Frameworks.
